A Very Dead Plant…..

Oh….hey y’all!  Happy Saturday to ya!  I pray that your day is going AMAZINGLY! 😉

Okay…so the reason for my post today is this picture———->

tomato plant

Mmmkay….so, one of my friends posted this with the caption “Two little red tomatoes on a very dead tomato plant.”  I looked at the picture for a few minutes and first thought about how AMAZING this is.  Then, I thought about how dead this plant actually looks.  Liiiikkke, I wouldn’t expect anything to grow from it.  Let alone survive on it.  Like, HOW?  I mean, LOOK AT IT!  My next thought was that something about this plant isn’t dead.  There must be good roots holding nutrients enough to allow these little tomatoes a chance at life.  There has to be life in there somewhere!  There just has to be or those tomatoes wouldn’t have gotten this far.  And I’m no guru, in fact, I know absolutely nothing about planting or growing ANYTHING!

That got me to thinking….. How many times do we give up hope on something just because of what it looks like on the outside?  How often do we succumb to temptation to just give in when we know what God promised us???  TOO MANY TIMES and TOO OFTEN!  I’m sure there are times when we are right on the brink of growth and break throughs and we just let go because, well, it looks lifeless.  The bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:7 that “we walk by faith, not by sight.”  So, just because we don’t see it in our view, that doesn’t mean that we should stop walking toward victory.  Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  We gotta realize that as children of God, what we have been promised by Him and what we have hoped for will manifest in ways that we do not expect.

We cannot count our promise dead just because of what it looks like on the outside.  You know what happens when you’re on the outside, looking in?  You don’t see the greatness that is forming.  Kinda like that tomato plant up there.  Judging by what it looks like, you’d never guess that it was capable of producing such fruit.  You’d never give it a chance and I dare say that if it was tossed out too early, it wouldn’t have had the chance to show the world what it could do.  What we must do is, understand that our faith holds the nutrients that cause our promise to grow on the outside of that very “dead looking” situation.  Our faith becomes the root of our promise.  Be sure those roots are good.

I’ve shared all that to say, please, don’t give up on your promise so soon, the manifestation is coming.  Don’t give in to what it looks like, it’s gonna be a beautiful end….beginning.  “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” (Jeremiah 29:11)  Know that God wants us to win!  He always has….this is why there was the cross…so that we would have the chance to WIN!  It’s just that, our idea of winning, often, skips all the tough stuff.

Just hold on and keep feeding that plant.  When it “rains”, know that your “fruit” is being watered.  When the SON shines, know that your “fruit” is growing.  Here comes my favorite scripture again —–> “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:9)  You gotta know that God’s ways and thoughts are so much greater than ours, that no matter how bad or impossible it seems, THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE PERFECT SET UP!!!  Just wait for it.  I read a quote the other day that said, “When you least expect it, God has the tendency to do the unthinkable.”  SO TRUE!  Just like NOBODY expected those two tomatoes to grow……..

Mmmkay… gotta go….

Love y’all (I really do!)
