Soooooo….last week, during math, we learned about measuring weight (well, the kiddos did). The teacher used a balance scale and measured different items against counting cubes to see which was heavier. At one point, she put her phone on the scale and asked the class how many cubes they thought that it would take to balance with her phone. We counted as she added and we got to thirty and still, the phone didn’t budge. We got to 44 and FINALLY it moved. It was just a tad off with the phone being heavier so she added ONE more to see if it would balance perfectly. The scale tipped completely, the cubes were heavier than the phone.
This made me think of how, sometimes, we go through so many things and situations and it seems as if they all pile on at once but somehow, we balance them ALL. Then…out of nowhere, or somewhere…that one last thing sits RIGHT ON TOP and it breaks us down completely. We lose it…get all out of wack…and threaten to give up. We are then left wondering how. How did one more take the cake? break the camel’s back? become the last straw?
All of that brought me to this…..I want to challenge US (me included), to look at all the other “weight” that we are carrying and do two things:
Lay it at the feet of Jesus.
we often get overwhelmed by things because we try to handle them ourselves instead of allowing God to take care of them for us.
Realize that, if we made it through ALL those other things, we are stronger than OUR breaking point.
Remember 2 Corinthians 12:9…..”And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
Get some REST!
Love you all!
